BooksPrice.com Launches 'Price Tweet' - A Practical Mash up with Twitter
New York, NY December 1st, 2008– Shoppers have a direct and fast way to compare prices while shopping out. BooksPrice.com (http://www.booksprice.com), a bootstrapped price comparison site, launched the new comparison tool “Price Tweet”: a practical mash up of their service and the Twitter messaging system. Price Tweet is an easy and convenient way to compare book and DVDs prices that uses the Twitter Messaging System to keep you updated via SMS, IM or your favorite twitter client. Booksprice offers two practical twitter usages:
1. Find the lowest prices while shopping in brick-and-mortar stores using a Twitter Direct Message. Shoppers can request a price quote for the lowest price of any book or DVD using their mobile by sending Booksprice a direct twitter message that contains the ISBN (or UPC) of the item with the following format:
d booksprice ISBN/UPC (for example: d booksprice 080537146X)
A reply from Booksprice will be sent directly showing the current lowest price for New & Used items plus the name of the store that is offering them, for example:
'Biology': New 43.99 Store-Name. Used 16.97 Store-Name
Lucy Orbach, co-founder of BooksPrice.com explains that this is a major improvement for online and ground shoppers. "With this new tool, Booksprice goes beyond the online market. In a fast and easy way, it will help the shoppers compare the price of the items from the store where they are to their prices online. Since online shopping involves a shipping cost, the prices shown on our messages will include standard shipping to the US, making it even easier to compare. Now, that the Holiday shopping are here , our direct quote tweets can help shoppers make sure they don’t overpay for their books/DVDs at store."
2. While shopping on-line: Users can opt-in to receive a tweet update of any price drop for a requested book or DVD on a certain period of time. Users will be able to activate the " Tweet Alert" to any book or DVD they compare at Booksprice by submitting their Twitter user name and the End date for the updates. This new approach introduced by BooksPrice.com turns Twitter updates into an excellent tool for shoppers, keeping them posted about price drops at their favorite Twitter client while freeing them from the need to constantly monitor the seller sites.
In order to activate the service, users just have to follow the 3 easy steps: open an account on Twitter –in case they still don’t have one- follow Booksprice at Twitter and submit their Twitter Screen Name at our site so Booksprice can follow them. After following this one-time activation, users will be able to start interacting with Booksprice right away.
BooksPrice.com, introduced in April 2005 with an innovative technique for comparing prices on multiple books simultaneously - as a more cost-efficient approach than standard one-item price comparison - now introduces this new concept as part of the current launch of its revamped Ajax-based site, significantly enhancing the site’s graphic design.
